“This is an interesting finding because in the past, foreigners traveling to Bali stayed longer at star-rated hotels than the non-star ones,” head of the BPS-Bali Office, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, said here on Tuesday.
In May, the average length of stay of foreign tourists in Bali was recorded at 2.8 nights at non-star hotels and 2.75 nights at star hotels.
Meanwhile, for local holidaymakers, the average length of stay was recorded at 1.92 nights at non-star hotels and 2.38 nights at star hotels, he added.
Regarding hotel occupancy rate, Hermawan said that it depends on foreign and domestic tourist arrivals. In May, the occupancy rate was recorded at 60.41 percent for 1-star hotels and 56.78 percent for 3-star ones.
Thanks to an increase in foreign tourist arrivals that month, the non-star hotel occupancy rate was recorded at 42.97 percent and continued to maintain a positive trend, he added.
According to the BPS, foreign tourist arrivals in May stood at 602,213, up compared to 591,221 the previous month, he said.
